Symtoms of a change

August 19, 2017

Dear Friends,

There are symptoms that allow us to foresee an important change in Japan.
The Japanese major media seem to start shifting toward supporting the retreat from the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020.
The Asahi Newspaper and the Mainichi Newspaper, both of them sponsoring the Tokyo Olympic Games, surprised the readers by the following frank expressions.

(The editorial of August 14,2017)

<The Tokyo Olympic Games is based on the false assertion that “Fukushima is under control”, assertion that deceives the whole world. The Abe Cabinet passed by force the law on conspiracy under the pretext of the Tokyo Olympic Games, law that could restrict human rights and menace democracy. We should at least retreat from “the sickness of the Tokyo Olympic Games!”
(The evening edition of the Mainichi News Paper of August7, 2017)

“The results of the nation-wide referendum among the listeners
conducted on 17 June by the TV Asahi news anchor Hiroshi Kume’s wide-show program entitled "Should we retreat from the the Tokyo Olympic Games 2010 ?"are impressive. All age categories except “under 19 years old”
have overwhelmingly(83%) supported the retreat from the 2020 Olympic Games.

Mr. Hiroshi Kume revealed in his radio broadcast of August12 that the Olympic Organizing Committee had addressed him opposing arguments. He told the listeners that they proved their “Olympic First”position, in stead of
“Athletes First”, explaining why the Tokyo Olympic Games is taking place at the hottest period in Japan(July21~August9). The IOC had accepted the request of 3 American television networks to make the acceptance of it the prerequisite of the candidacy. Actually, the imposed choice of this hottest period is the target of increasing criticism, because of the obvious dangers of heat strokes menacing athletes, spectators, volunteers etc.( The evening edition of the Mainichi News Paper of July 29, 2017)

In view of the unimaginable impact the cancellation of the Tokyo Olympic Games, it could not but develop into a major political issue sooner or later.
In this connection, some former prime ministers are expected to play an important role.
Former Prime Minister Kan Naoto who experienced the 3/11 disaster while in office is engaged in pleading the world to stop
using nuclear reactors, source of humanly unacceptable consequences.
Former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama voiced his opposition against it in his interview given by Japan Times a year and a half ago.
Former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi continues to condemn strongly the false assertion “under control”. He has established a relief fund to help American soldiers, victims of the TOMODACHI operation after the 3/11 nuclear disaster.
Among former prime ministers who have not taken position on the Olympic issue, some deserve special attention.
Former Prime Minister Morihiro Hosokawa played a role in promoting the removal of nuclear fuel rods from the unit 4 reactor in Fukushima Daiichi.
Former Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda is now drawing special attention.
On August 2, the Kyodo News interviewed him. He most severely criticized Prime Minister Abe, asserting that Japan would be ruined due to his control of high ranking bureaucrats by dint of the Cabinet Bureau of Personnel Affaires established in 2014.
(Japanese version: http://yuruneto.com/hukudayasuo/)

This interview has not yet been reported abroad, as of August 20, according to the Kyodo News. Its impact is expected to be far reaching.

An important change seems to be in the making.

New Study Shows Full Radiation Risks Are Not Recorded

PRESS RELEASE – 7/27/17

Contact: info@fairewindsenergy.org

Today, the scientific journal Science of the Total Environment(STOTEN) published a peer-reviewed article entitled: Radioactively-hot particles detected in dusts and soils from Northern Japan by combination of gamma spectrometry, autoradiography, and SEM/EDS analysis and implications in radiation risk assessment. Co-authored by Dr. Marco Kaltofen, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), and Arnie Gundersen, Fairewinds Energy Education, the article details the analysis of radioactively hot particles collected in Japan following the Fukushima Dai-ichi meltdowns.

Based on 415 samples of radioactive dust from Japan, the USA, and Canada, the study identified a statistically meaningful number of samples that were considerably more radioactive than current radiation models anticipated. If ingested, these more radioactive particles increase the risk of suffering a future health problem.

“Measuring radioactive dust exposures can be like sitting by a fireplace,” Dr. Kaltofen said. “Near the fire you get a little warm, but once in a while the fire throws off a spark that can actually burn you.”

The same level of risk exists in Japan. While most people have an average level of risk, a few people get an extra spark from a hot particle.

According to Dr. Kaltofen, “The average radiation exposures we found in Japan matched-up nicely with other researchers.  We weren’t trying to see just somebody’s theoretical average result.  We looked at how people actually encounter radioactive dust in their real lives. Combining microanalytical methods with traditional health physics models,” he added, “we found that some people were breathing or ingesting enough radioactive dust to have a real increase in their risk of suffering a future health problem.  This was especially true of children and younger people, who inhale or ingest proportionately more dust than adults.”

Fairewinds’ book Fukushima Dai-ichi: The Truth and the Way Forward was published in Japan by Shueisha Publishing, just prior to the one-year commemoration of the tsunami and meltdowns. “Our book,” Mr. Gundersen said, “which is a step-by-step factual account of the reactor meltdowns, was a best seller in Japan and enabled us to build amazing relations with people actually living in Japan, who are the source of the samples we analyzed. We measured things like house dusts, air filters, and even car floor mats.  Collecting such accurate data shows the importance of citizen science, crowd sourcing, and the necessity of open, public domain data for accurate scientific analysis.”

Fairewinds Energy Education founder Maggie Gundersen said, “We are very thankful to the scientists and citizen scientists in Japan, who sought our assistance in collecting and analyzing this data. We will continue to support ongoing scientific projects examining how people in Japan and throughout the world experience radioactive dust in their daily lives.”

The complete peer reviewed report and project audio description by Dr. Kaltofen are available here at the Science of the Total Environment website.

Interactive data and the supporting materials are available here at the Fairewinds Energy Education website.

Mounting criticism against the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020

Mounting criticism against the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020

Dear Friends,

Please allow me to send you this message that reminds us of the problems
confronting the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020.

We can grasp distinctly the spirit of the Olympic Charter is being neglected
as regards the political utilization of the Olympic Games.
Relevant prescriptions are as follows.
“The Olympic Games are competitions between athletes in individual or team
events and not between countries” (Chapter 1, clause6).
“The IOC and the OCOG shall not draw up any global ranking” (Chapter 5,
clause 57).

A special treatment of 5 years grace period, accorded to the limitation of
overtime work in consideration of the Olympic Games, has caused a tragedy
concerning the construction of the Olympic National Stadium. A newly
employed worker has recently committed a suicide due to overwork. His latest
monthly work time registered 200 hours surpassing the newly established
limit of 100 hours. This 5 years grace period must be abolished as soon as
possible.

A glance at the attached articles criticizing the Tokyo Olympic Games 2010
published in Japanese newspapers will be sufficient to understand the new
trend of the public opinion in Japan. The first criticizes holding the Games
in intensisive heat. The second is the similar warning by the Mainichi News
Paper, one of the 4 sponsorng major news papers. The temperature being expected to
surpass 34 degrees C. by then, it points out serious dangers of heatstrokes, not
only for the athletes, but also for spectators and volunteers.

Moreover, the same trend can be observed internationally, as evidenced by
the following article.

https://www.bloomberg.com/…07…/why-no-one-wants-the-olympics

I am convinced all the problems boil down to one question; Can the “under
control” assertion be still be trusted?

Fukushima and the Tokyo Olympic Games

July 22, 2017

Dear Friends,

I am sending you some reactions to my last message to President Thomas Bach of the IOC.
There is mounting support for retreating from the Tokyo Plympic Games 2020.

”Thank you so much for this article. It describes a crime of horrendous dimension.
Thanks for making it public!”

”Your letter to IOC Prez Bach is very pertinent. Forwarding him the report from Truthout on Mr Gunderson’s
current analysis of the state of Affairs in Japan and the followup of the Fukushima disaster is highly important.
A call to cancel or postpone the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo becomes more urgent and deserves international attention
including perhaps the voice of IPPNW. ”

” It would be marvelous if authorities would admit that the Fukushima Problem is not solved and is a very serious problem!
Moving people back and hosting the Olympics is sheer madness. I would say criminal.”

”Your recent messages are posted here:
http://www.opensourcetruth.com/urgent-messages-from-murata-san/

It is increasingly the morality of the Tokyo Olympic Games that is being questioned.
We are reminded that the strongest power’s biggest enemy is ethics and morals.

Retreating from the Tokyo Plympic Games

June 17, 2017

Dear Friends,

The results of the nation-wide referendum among the listeners
conducted on 17 June by the Hiroshi Kume’s wide-show program entitled
“Should we retreat from the the Tokyo Olympic Games 2010 ?”
are extremely impressive. All age categories except “under 19 years old”
have overwhelmingly supported the retreat from the 2020 Olympic Games.
The results could not but have a far reaching impact on this vital issue.
The future of Fukushima depends on it.

This development coincides with another significant one.
In a surprise move, the International Olympic Committee announced on 16 June
that it was ending its Olympic sponsorship deal with Mcdonald.
The fast-food giant pulled out of its current, estimated £40-million-a-year, deal with
the International Olympic Committee more than three years early,
citing a “focus on different priorities”,severing a relationship that dated to 1976.

A new page is being opened as regards the Olympic Games 2020.

Retreating from the Tokyo Plympic Games

June 15, 2017

Dear Friends,

On 17 June from 13:00,Hiroshi Kume, famous radio commentator is presenting
a wide-show program entitled “Should we retreat from the Tokyo Olympic Games 2010 ?”
Olympic Gold Medal marathon runner Ms. Hiroko Arimori will be present.
Mr. Kume and Ms.Arimori have been opposing the Tokyo Olympic Games. The program will conduct
a nation-wide referendum among the listenners.
It is an extremely opportune and significant program.

The present situation in Japan is based on hiding Fukushima. The media have abandonned their mission.
The awaited decision to retreat from the Olympic now seems to be the only way to awaken Japan anf the world.
I am firmly convinced that it is inevitable. Its impact is beyond immagination.

I am sending you a communication on June 14 from the Natural Solutions Foundation, reflecting the growing concern of the
Internationa Community.

Alarming situation in Japan

April 21, 2017

Dear Friends,

Conscientious Japanese do not forget the goal described in the Constitution “We desire to occupy an honored place in an international society striving for the preservation of peace.” They are required to stay particularly vigilant to any departure from it, under present circumstances.

The Japanese Government has decided to tolerate the use of Adolf Hitler’s autobiography “Mein Kampf” (“My Struggle”) as teaching material in schools. It is known that this book advocates fascism, racism and extremism.
Earlier, the Government announced its intention to allow equally the use of the Imperial Rescript on Education of 1890.

It has stunned the majority of the Japanese and, to a greater degree, the international community, because it reveals undeniably the move of returning to the prewar militarism.
On April 18, Chinese Foreign Ministry official’s reaction was reported as expected. It is to the effect that fascism and militarism “must be held thoroughly accountable and eradicated” and that Japan must educate its young people with “the right view of history”.

Something seems to be wrong in Japan.
The credibility of the party in power is seriously being damaged by successive scandals in addition to the Moritomo school problem and newly surfacing Kakei school affair, concerning the transfer of national land and the supply of huge grant-in-aid.

Mr.Toshinao Nakagawa has tendered his resignation as Parliamentary vice minister of Economy, Trade and Industry for having had an extramarital affair. We are reminded of recent verbal gaffs by a number of ministers and the presence in the Cabinet of certain incompetent ministers.

A few days ago, a commentator of the Television Asahi expressed his astonishment about the unprecedented resolution of the commission to enable the presence of a director-general of the Ministry of Justice in order to assist the Minister of Justice. Opposition parties are severely criticizing the autocratic management of the parliamentary deliberations.

It is noteworthy that Chairman Natsuo Yamaguchi of Komeito, the coalition partner of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party could not refrain from stating in his recent public speech made a few days ago that the administration of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is “strikingly lacking in a sense of alertness.”

To complicate the situation, the President of the organizing Committee, Yoshiro Mori, has written a book commented in the attached Japanese article.
It seems to be a fierce attack against Governor Koike. President Mori is” fighting against two fears, one is cancer and the other is the blade of Governor Koike”. This will invite a discussion on the “under control” assertion. I have sent to Gonernor Koike the attached message to reiterate my conviction that the retreat from the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 would mark the beginning of a new age awaited by the majority of the Japanese.

Please allow me to count on your understanding and support.

Nuclear energy and the sickness of Japan

April 16, 2017

Dear Friends,

The financial support of Tepco for the more than 60 thousand voluntary refugees from Fukushima ended last March.
This has given rise to deep sympathy and sharp criticism as to the irresponsible Japanese nuclear policy
from the standpoint of human rights、humanism and ethics.
Conscientious Japanese will not give up requiring the redressing of the situation.

Some comments so far received;

“Dear Mitsuhei,
so much denial – horrendous. Thank you for sharing this article. May responsibility and common sense prevail!”

“As far as nuclear reactors are concerned, the term”accountability” does not exist in Japan. This is due to the lack of three senses,
the sense of responsibility, that of ethics and that of justice, that is to say, the sickness of Japan.

In the internet, the lack of ethics as regards the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020 is being revealed at its deep roots.Heaven’s vengeance is slow but sure (Lao Tsu).

The warning that “the fate of the world will be decided by electric countries (sic., companies’?)”is finally bringing about countermeasures;an international move to enact legislation against producing radioactivity and a new move against radioactive pollution in Japan.

It is evident that crisis management is now needed to cope with the eventual retreat from the Tokyo Olympic Games 2020, in view of the impact beyond imagination it could cause.

Fukushima could never be hidden or forgotten.
Yesterday, I sent a message to this effect to Chairman Shuichi Tanaka of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Please allow me to count on your understanding and support.
