Via DalaiLama.com and the Tutu IP Trust come this new “special message to the world” from the 14th Dalai Lama, read by his friend Archbishop Desmond Tutu. In it, His Holiness addresses the coronavirus crisis: “This crisis and its consequences serve as a warning, that only by coming together in a coordinated, global response, will we meet the unprecedented magnitude of the challenges we’ll face.”

Compassion, of course, is key to the Dalai Lama’s special message: “It is during times like this when we must focus on what unites us as members of one human family,” Tutu reads. “Accordingly, we need to reach out to each other with compassion. As human beings, we experience the same fears, the same hopes, the same uncertainties. Yet we are also united by a desire for happiness.”

CAN YOU HELP US AT A CRITICAL TIME?
COVID-19 has brought tremendous suffering, uncertainty, fear, and strain to the world.

Our sincere wish is that these Buddhist teachings, guided practices, and stories can be a balm in these difficult times. Over the past month, over 400,000 readers like you have visited our site, reading almost a million pages and streaming over 120,000 hours of video teachings. We want to provide even more Buddhist wisdom but our resources are strained. Can you help us?

No one is free from the pandemic’s impact, including Lion’s Roar. We rely significantly on advertising and newsstand sales to support our work — both of which have dropped precipitously this year. Can you lend your support to Lion’s Roar at this critical time?
